Strowlers is a shared cinematic universe from Zombie Orpheus Entertainment. Set in the modern day, it tells the story of the dreamers, outcasts, artists, and activists who exist on the magical fringes of society.
The world is released under the Strowlers Shared Cinematic Universe License Agreement (SCULA), which allows any creator to make and distribute their own works based in the Strowlerverse.
The Strowlers shared cinematic universe is not our universe: it is one in which the fundamental laws of physics allow magic to exist. It is a warped mirror history that mostly parallels our world’s evolution and historical progression, where the same events happened, but from different causes. Historical events, myths, and legends from our world can and often do inspire Strowlerverse stories. Check out our wiki for established Strowlers lore.
While ‘magic’ is defined by most governments as arcanology—a predictable and inflexible branch of the sciences—Strowlers know that true magic is wilder, less predictable, and sometimes even has a mind of its own.
STROWLERS FOR CREATORS
So we made Strowlers for everyone. It’s fan-funded and basically, that means we’re not going to get uptight about copyright. This is a shared world and we want you to tell the stories that matter to you.
Do whatever you want with YOUR stories—share them, sell them, give them away, totally your choice.
And yeah, there’s an official license, but it really just comes down to this
- You own whatever you make under these terms. It’s yours, have fun! (Ownership)
- Release your creation under this same license (Share-alike)
- Credit any other Strowlers works that you use (Attribution)
- Make something new, instead of cloning someone else’s work (Transformation)
- Don’t steal anything you don’t own, or not released under this license (Integrity)
- Don’t use Strowlers to create hate speech. (Keep it Clean) (but you can swear all you fucking want!)
You can read the full license at http://scu.la/strowlers, but these basic guidelines should keep you in good shape. Just be sure you check in on the detailed license terms if you reach the point in project development and funding where lawyers or unions get involved.
And check out the world bible! It has loads of information for your stories and you can get it for free right here: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/256182/Strowlers-World-Bible[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row content_width=”grid” css=”.vc_custom_1494580647742{padding-top: 90px !important;padding-bottom: 34px !important;background-color: #ffffff !important;}”][vc_column offset=”vc_col-lg-offset-0 vc_col-lg-6 vc_col-md-offset-0 vc_col-md-12 vc_col-sm-offset-0 vc_col-xs-12″][edgtf_section_title title_text=”Sign up for news” subtitle_text=”Contact the Strowlers team with questions about filmmaking, distribution, and collaboration.” text_align=”left” enable_separator=”yes”][/edgtf_section_title][vc_empty_space height=”12px”]
